Rosemead Appoints Benjamin Kim as the New Assistant City Manager

City Manager Gloria Molleda is excited to announce the appointment of Benjamin “Ben” Kim as the new Assistant City Manager for the City of Rosemead.

Ben currently holds the position of Community Development Director for the City and has demonstrated an exceptional performance during his time in Rosemead. He has over 20 years of experience in local government, with an extensive background in community development. Previously, Ben has held positions as Community Development Director, Redevelopment Manager, Project Manager, and Planner for the cities of Anaheim, West Covina, Montebello, Pomona, and La Habra Heights.

“I am very honored and humbled by the opportunity given to me,” Ben said. “I believe that my training and experiences have prepared me to succeed in this new role while continuing to provide quality service to our residents and businesses. Rosemead is my home away from home, and I truly enjoy and appreciate the Rosemead family.”

In his new role, Ben will enhance the Public Safety Division by managing a CIP project established to upgrade the Public Safety Center at Zapopan Park to a more functional Sheriff Substation and maintain the high quality of life for our residents. He will also help maintain the City’s long history of financial prudence and continue to provide excellent customer service. In addition to his primary duties, he is excited to develop creative solutions to beautify residential neighborhoods and commercial corridors. He will begin his new role on August 26, while continuing to oversee the Community Development Department until the City fills the director position.

Ben received his Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona. He enjoys traveling, learning new things, and spending quality time with his family. Ben is happily married to his wife Jennie, and they have two boys; Matthew (18) who will begin his first semester at UC Berkeley this Fall and Adam (14) who is a freshman in high school.
