THE “GREAT SHAKEOUT” IS ON: OCTOBER 18, 2018 at 10:18 A.M.
ARE YOU PREPARED?

Rosemead, CA – Residents are asked to review their emergency plans and to join millions of other Southern Californians in the statewide “Great ShakeOut” on October 18, 2018 at 10:18 a.m. The earthquake drill will help residents evaluate their emergency preparedness and practice how to be safe during earthquakes. The drill asks residents to practice dropping to the ground or taking cover under a table or desk in preparation for when the big one hits.

To participate or learn more about the Great ShakeOut, go to www.ShakeOut.org. While there, pledge your family, school, business, or organization’s participation in the drill. Registered participants will receive information on how to plan their drill, encourage others to participate, and to improve their earthquake preparedness. Get registered! Participation is free and everyone is encouraged to be involved.

All residents should have emergency supplies, including “Go Kits,” and evacuation plans to help their family and pets survive the first few days following a major disaster. Emergency management officials urge residents to sign up for emergency alerts, such as Alert LA County, at https://www.lacounty.gov/emergency/alert-la/, and Nixle alerts, at www.nixle.com, for the latest emergency information.

For more information about any of these preparedness programs, please contact Mandy Wong, Public Safety Supervisor at (626) 569-2168 or [email protected].
