Rosemead Appoints Angelica Frausto-Lupo as the new Director of Community Development


The City of Rosemead, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD), is pleased
to announce the appointment of LASD Lieutenant Tony Duong, as Rosemead’s new Chief of Police.

Lieutenant Duong has served with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for over twenty years.  His patrol assignment at Century Station included patrolling the areas of Lynwood, Willowbrook, and Florence/Firestone.  Lieutenant Duong was assigned to Operation Safe Streets Bureau for five years, where he spent the majority of his time combatting and investigating gangs in the San Gabriel Valley area. 

In 2013, Lieutenant Duong promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  His assignments as a sergeant included Temple Station patrol, Rosemead Special Assignment Team, and Operations Sergeant for East Patrol Division.  In 2019, he promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Palmdale Station.  Lieutenant Duong’s investigative and supervisory experience will be a tremendous asset in his role as Chief of Police.

“I am very honored and privileged to return to Temple Station and serve as Rosemead’s Chief of Police,” Duong said. “I vow to relentlessly fight crime while addressing quality of life issues in Rosemead.”

Lieutenant Duong holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from California State University Fullerton.  He is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Public Administration. 

In his spare time, Lieutenant Duong enjoys hiking, bike riding, and going to the beach.
