City of Rosemead Names New Assistant City Manager – Michael Bruckner

City Manager Ben Kim is pleased to announce and welcome Michael Bruckner as the new Assistant City Manager for the City of Rosemead.

Prior to joining Rosemead, Mike served as the Deputy City Manager in Arcadia, where he was responsible for the day-to-day administration of the City Manager's Office, which included the City Clerk and City Attorney functions and a multitude of organizational and community enhancement projects.  With over 15 years of municipal government experience, he has held positions with the City of Palo Alto, Town of Leesburg (Virginia), City of Anaheim, and other cities of various sizes and complexities.

Some of Mike’s notable accomplishments throughout his career include:

  • Virginia Municipal League (VML) Achievement Award for Long Range Financial Planning.

  • Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Innovation Award for Performance Management.

  • Implemented automated desktop budget publishing (PatternStream) and first-in-kind municipal fee calculator (Questica Budget).

  • Led three innovation teams to reimagine hiring practices, job sharing/talent development, and emergency public information.

  • Coordinated technical and administrative functions for passage of a ¾ cent Sales Tax Measure, passed with 64% approval.

  • Authored a 40-page Fire Services Feasibility Study for consolidated Fire suppression services with a neighboring city.

  • Launched a new City website, winning two Gold Awards in international competition for design and functionality.

Mike holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Sonoma State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration with a certificate in Public Finance from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.  We welcome Mike to the Rosemead Family!
