The City of Rosemead, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD), is pleased to announce the appointment of LASD Lieutenant Kevin Tiwari as Rosemead’s new Chief of Police.
Lieutenant Tiwari has served the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for over 20 years. His LASD career began when he was 16 years old, as a Deputy Sheriff Explorer at Temple Station. He furthered his career in law enforcement as a Community Service Officer for Duarte, and ultimately became Sheriff Deputy. Lieutenant Tiwari worked as a Sheriff Deputy at North Custody Facility, then moved to the Transit Services Bureau, West Hollywood Station, Operation Safe Streets Bureau- Gang Enforcement Team, and Industry Sheriff’s Station. As a Deputy, he served the roles of Special Assignment Officer and Field Training Officer.
In 2016, Lieutenant Tiwari was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Compton Sheriff’s Station, where he served as a Patrol Sergeant and Watch Commander. After two years of serving the community of Compton, Lieutenant Tiwari was selected as a sergeant for the Mental Evaluation Team (MET), where he worked for four years. In January 2022, Lieutenant Tiwari was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Temple Sheriff’s Station, where he worked as a Watch Commander before taking on the role of Interim Rosemead Police Chief in January of 2023.
Lieutenant Tiwari, a lifelong native of the San Gabriel Valley. He has a Master of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute.
“First and foremost, I am honored to be selected as the Rosemead Chief of Police. My primary focus as your Chief of Police will be to ensure the safety and well-being of every resident, business owner, and community member,” Tiwari said. “The Rosemead Special Assignment Team and Temple Station Deputies will continue to fight crime relentlessly, partner with the community, and address quality of life issues.”
In his spare time, Lieutenant Tiwari enjoys traveling, going to the river, camping, off-roading, and spending time with his family.
