Rosemead Library is one of 88 branches in the Los Angeles County Library system. Rosemead Library traces its history back to the establishment of the Savannah Branch of the Los Angeles County Free Public Library in June 1916. Over the years, Rosemead Library has relocated several times but spent 30 years in a renovated school building at 4114 Rosemead Blvd. In May 1967, Rosemead Library moved to its current location at 8800 Valley Blvd. in the same complex as the Rosemead City Hall and the Rosemead Community Center. In May 2011, Rosemead Library was refurbished with new furniture and carpet, a designated space for teens and children’s, additional public computers, lounge area and the addition of the *Asian Pacific Resource Center (APRC).
Rosemead Library has 13 public Internet computers, 5 online public access catalogs, 6 children’s Internet/homework computers, 2 AWE computers for children, a photocopier/scanner, and a microfiche/microfilm reader/printer. In addition to adult, teen and children’s books, magazines and newspapers, DVDs, music CDs and audiobooks, Rosemead Library has a sizeable collection of Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish language material,a Braille collection as well as Kindle devices with preloaded titles available to read. In addition to Chromebook which can be checked out, there is also FREE Wi-Fi and a Meeting Room which can be reserved. Rosemead Library also schedules a variety of programs throughout the year for all ages, is a battery recycling site, a Tool Lending Library, a Metro Tap card site and offers FREE access to numerous online databases, virtual classes, magazines, and newspapers for research including Brainfuse for online homework help and an opportunity to sign up for virtual classes and download books, music, movies and more!
*The Asian Pacific Resource Center (APRC) moved to Rosemead Library in 2011 and is open the same hours as Rosemead Library. APRC serves the information needs of the richly diverse Asian and Pacific Islander communities of Los Angeles County with an emphasis on their experience and offers specialized reference assistance. APRC’s collection is comprised of books, magazines, DVDs and CDs in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese, newspapers in Chinese, Japanese and Korean and select historical newspapers on microfilm.
